We are coming to the end of summer and most of us are preparing to return to the routine of normal life. There is something safe and comforting about a routine but at the same time, it is the very thing that bores us before long. We call it by a different name - we say that we are in a rut.
In our spiritual lives a rut can be hazardous to our growth. We begin to go through the Christian motions and become dry inside. The biggest problem is that it is so difficult to detect from the outside. We are doing all that is expected but our heart is suffering.
If you take the time to read the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) you will find that God expects dividends from the investment He has placed in us. Usually when I read this, I automatically ask myself if I am doing enough, but that is not actually God's primary concern. On Sunday I will be speaking from Isaiah chapter 1. It is most confusing to read, unless you understand the condition of God's people at that time. A condition that is not too far from our own.
Looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.
See you then.
